Being Resilient

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away? Obviously, this year will be different in thinking through how to gather, and gather safely, in person or through technology, with family and friends. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones or suffered through the pandemic. We will get through this with God’s help, leaning on one another as a church family. If I can be of service in anyway, please don’t hesitate to let me know, I’m here for you.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve added back elements to our worship service. The Contemporary Team sings and plays each week. The choir loft serves to provide physical distance to a rotating quartet who performs both a hymn and anthem. The Handbell Choir did a performance a short while back and will be performing regularly every three to four weeks. We are taking signups for Sunday Liturgists (see Kay Williams) , as well as having some designated speakers sprinkled into the mix. All of the services are recorded and available online through our website, Facebook page, or through email. If you’re not receiving the link for the worship service, please let us know.

Starting November 1st, we will be adding a weekly Youth Sunday School, for ages toddler through middle school, which will be held DURING the Sunday Worship Service. The new program will have the children leaving the Sanctuary after Kid’s Time. The kids will be divided by age into two separate groups. As with our Worship Service, the teachers, and kids (when age appropriate), will be wearing masks and social distancing.

This is in addition to the ongoing Adult Sunday School, which meets BEFORE church, Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the Chapel. Can’t make it in person? You can also participate through Zoom from your home.

We are reimaging Mt. Olivet with your help and patience through God’s guidance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you (Psalm 32:8).
