Four Statements of Love
As we enter the holiday season, many of us will be with family and friends during Thanksgiving and Christmas. This can be an opportunity to say one or more of these Four Statements of Love: ‘Thank You’, ‘I Love You’, ‘Please Forgive Me’, and ‘I Forgive You’.
Thank You – so many people in our lives have contributed to who we have become. They deserve our thanks and gratitude.
I Love You – expressing ‘I love you’ in words, gesture, or writing can make all the difference. Maybe there is someone in your life waiting to hear those words or see signs of these feelings from you.
Please Forgive Me – can you admit when you’ve made a mistake and then say you are sorry? Is there someone who you will see over the holidays that needs to hear your apology?
I Forgive You – is it time to be the bigger person? The
saying goes, ‘to err is human; to forgive, divine’ (Alexander Pope, 1711). In fact, holding a grudge is like drinking poison and then expecting the other person to die. Or, like the graphic above, we simply discard them.
This holiday season there will be opportunities to say: ‘thank you’, ‘I love you’, ‘please forgive me’, and ‘I forgive you’. Jesus-like qualities to…
