Your First Visit to Mount Olivet?

At Mt. Olivet UCC a warm welcome awaits you. We provide a handicap accessible ramp, an elevator that allows access to all floors.

We encourage families with young children to take advantage of our nursery.

Sunday School begins at 9:15 and ends at 10:00 for all ages through High School. There is also an Adult Bible Study class with the same time parameters.

The First Sunday of each month we celebrate an “open” communion we invite you to share the Lord’s Supper with us.

During our Sunday Morning Worship at 10:30, you can expect:

  • To be a part of a Worship service that will last approx. 60 minutes.

  • You will be welcomed warmly by the congregation and by Pastor Michael and his wife Synthea. Coffee and treats are available as we mingle and talk.

  • Once entering the sanctuary you’ll be offered a bulletin, there is an informal greeting time before the service begins.

  • Once the worship service begins there’s an opportunity to sing contemporary style music as well as hymns, which can be sung out of the hymnal or through viewing the Power Point screen.

  • The Mt. Olivet choir sings every week and hand bells both adult and youth play throughout the year.

  • There are announcements and scripture read from the liturgist of the day that leads into singing a hymn.

  • There is a prayer time that begins by praying for those on our prayer list in the bulletin and any additions that the congregation may lift up. Following praying for the folks above, there is a personal silent time of prayer, to experience God through confession, encouragement, gratitude, reflection and forgiveness. We end prayer time by speaking in one voice the Lord’s prayer, that appears in the bulletin and on the screen.

  • Our kid’s time (children’s message) precedes the sermon and is interactive and uplifting that builds a foundation for the sermon.

  • The children remain in the sanctuary following kids time.

  • The multimedia Biblical Sermons speak to relevant, day to day issues of how to be the best followers of Jesus, the best people we can be in our relationship with God and others (Love God, Love others). Sermons are challenging, humorous and applicable, 10-15 minutes long.

  • Following the sermon an offering is collected, and we sing the Doxology (Praise God from whom all blessings flow).

  • After we sing our final hymn, Pastor Michael and Synthea greet folks at the back of the church; an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the service or the church.

  • There is a coffee hour that follows the service.

  • What you can expect is to be warmly greeted by our community of faith, to participate at a level that is comfortable for you, with opportunities to grow your faith in relationship with God and others.
