    Early in 2023, the Mt. Olivet Missions Committee was formed….a group of individuals who shared the desire to reach out into the community to share God’s love and promote connection and fellowship to share His Word. After much prayer, conversation and input from the congregation, the committee felt led to embrace the provision of food to those in need as the mission focus of the committee.

   Our efforts to meet this goal began with the creation of the Community Breakfast, held one Saturday morning each month as an opportunity to serve the community, share our mission and encourage fellowship. This breakfast is the fundraiser for the mission committee, with the monies raised to support our various mission efforts. Each month, the breakfast menu and attendance grew.

   We felt God’s leading to expand our ministry. We became aware of the needs of individuals who reside at motels in our community who were facing challenges in obtaining food. Using monies donated at the community breakfasts, the missions committee began providing monthly dinners and breakfasts to these residents. Initially, the meals were simply delivered to the motel lobbies. The committee desired to engage in fellowship and build relationship with motel residents. And so, the question was asked, “what if we could prepare food on site and share the meal together?” 

   We determined a grill and tables would be needed to accomplish our goal. We were ecstatic to receive the $1000 grant that enabled us to purchase a grill, grill accessories and tables. Our on-site dinners have been well-received by the motel residents, who not only shared food with us, but conversation and connection as well. Thank you for awarding us this grant and enabling us to share God’s love and ministry through the provision of food!!

   We once again felt God’s leading to expand our outreach….we will be utilizing the grill and tables to provide lunch to families as they receive groceries at our community food bank. Plans are in place to serve food on site along side of a mobile food pantry in the wider community. Our God is an amazing God, and He equips us to do His work and feed His people. And the grant monies we received have made this possible. Thank you again!!!
